Spinach Poriyal


Ingredients:

Spinach - 1/4 kg
Onion - 1/4 cup
Shredded coconut - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds
Cumin seeds
Curry leaves
Red chili - 1

Direction:
  • Wash spinach well and cut them properly.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds,cumin seeds,curry leaves,red chili and onion.
  • Saute them well and add spinach.
  • Close the lid and allow to cook.
  • Stir now and them the spinach.
  • cook them until all water evaporates.
  • Finally spread shredded coconut.

Spinach & Black channa Curry


Ingredients:

Spinach - 3 cups
Black channa - 1/2 cup
Tomato - 2
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves
Green chili - 2
Ginger - a small piece
Sambar masala - 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Direction:

  • Pressure cook the channa for 3 whistle.
  • Blend tomato,green chili and ginger.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds,cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  • Add the tomato paste and stir for 5 minutes.
  • Cut the spinach into small size and add to the above paste.
  • Add sambar masala and salt.
  • Now add channa and allow to boil.
  • Serve hot with rice or rotti.

Spinach Vadai

Ingredients:

Basan flour - 1 cup
Rice flour - 2 tbsp
Chopped spinach - 1 cup
Chili powder - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Green chili - 2
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Oil to fry

Direction:

  • Mix all the ingredients except oil.
  • It should be like chapathi dough.
  • Make small balls out of the dough and press them between your palm.
  • Heat oil and deep fry them.

Spinach Rice

Ingredients:

Spinach - 2 cups
Rice - 1 cup
Green peas - 1/2 cup
corriander powder - 1 tsp
Briyani masala or sambar powder- 1 tsp
corriandeer leaves - 1/2 cup
Curry leaves
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
Green chilli - 2
Onion - 1 cup
Tomato - 1 cup
Salt to taste

Direction:

  • Heat oil in a pan,put mustard seeds,cumin seeds,curry leaves and corrander leaves in it.
  • Saute well the onion and the tomato.
  • Now add spinach and close the pan for 5 minutes.
  • Add corriander powder,briyani masala or sambar powder and salt.
  • Mix this to the rice and cook.
  • Eat this with boiled egg or any raita.

Spinach koottu

Ingredients:

Spinach - 2 cups
Toor dal(thuvaram parupu) - 1/2 cup
Onion - 1 cup
Tomato - 3/4 cup
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Red chilli - 2
curry powder - 1 tsp
Garlic - 3 nos.
Salt to taste

Direction:

  • Pressure cook the dal in pressure cooker wiht turmeric powder.
  • Take oil in a pan and put mustard seeds,cumin seeds,red chilli,onion.Saute well and add garlic and spinach.
  • Close the pan until the spinach get half cooked.
  • Now add the cooked dal in it.
  • Then add curry powder and salt.
  • You can eat this with chapathi or rice.
  • I like this to put in rice with ghee..hmmmmm..great!

Aloo palak


















Ingredients

spinach - 2 cups
garlic - 2 nos
ginger - little bit
onions - 1
green chilies - 2
potatoes - 2
turmeric - 1 tsp
cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
garam masala - 1/2 tsp
coriander powder - 1 tsp
cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
salt to taste

Directions


  • In a pan cook the spinach with garlic, ginger, onions and the green chilies for about 5-10 minutes.
  • In the meantime boil the potatoes with salt  and set aside when done.
  • Add the cooked potatoes, garam masala, corriander and cumin powder and a little water if needed.
  • Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Eat this with chapathi..
